One of the most important things you can do to care for your birds is to keep your bird feeders and bird baths clean. Clean them every few weeks, or more frequently as needed. This also helps to attract more birds, which is always fun!

Cleaning Feeders

Here's a video to demonstrate the steps! 

To clean feeders:

  • Disassemble.
  • Scrub with water and dish soap to remove debris.
  • Soak all parts in a bleach solution of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water for a several minutes to disinfect.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Let dry completely before reassembling and refilling.

 

Cleaning Bird Baths

Regular refilling and cleaning will help reduce algae and is good for your birds’ health. To clean bird baths:

  • Refill your bird baths with fresh water at least once a week.
  • Regularly scrub your bird bath with our EcoTough® Scrubber Brush (available in-store only) or similar, using a 10% bleach solution (one part bleach to nine parts water).
  • Rinse thoroughly and allow to completely dry.
